Excerpt from Shattered Surrender
I will never forget something my pastor in Alaska said in one of his many sermons on faith: “We live from faith to faith to faith.” I’ve carried that truth with me for the last 36 years, and it has never made more sense than it does now.
When we witness God doing something amazing in our lives, it fills us with hope—we know that only He could have made it happen. Then, when another situation arises that is beyond our control, our faith is tested once again. But because we remember what God has done before, we turn our eyes, our hearts, and our prayers toward heaven, trusting our Father to work it out. And once again, He does.
This process strengthens our faith. Not only that, but it deepens our trust in His timing—which is often the hardest part of growing in faith. I know God is in control, and I know He will work all things together for my good—but when? That’s the question we all wrestle with.
We must learn not only to trust God’s plan but also to wait on His perfect timing.
I truly believe that God desires for us to grow into a place of unwavering faith—one so firm that we no longer question when unexpected events touch our lives. When they come, we trust that God has allowed them for a reason. We believe He has a plan, and in His perfect time, we will see victory.
Time and time again, God has shown me that He keeps His word and fulfills His promises. One passage of Scripture sums it up far better than I ever could. This is from the Amplified Version of God’s Word:
“So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
~ Isaiah 55:11 AMP
When I read God’s Word, it illuminates my steps, guiding me down the path He has prepared for me. It leads me in the right direction because it is TRUTH and LIGHT.
